Jazz Age on the Delaware

Jazz Age on the Delaware

This looks like so much fun and I will be really sad if I don’t get there.

Not finding enough opportunities to channel your inner Gatsby (or Daisy, or Jordan, as the case may be)?

On Saturday August 1st, 2015 from 11am to 5pm, Glen Foerd (the region’s only Gilded Age mansion on the Delaware River) will host Jazz Age on the Delaware. It promises to be “an immersive experience that brings together the best of 1920s fashion, food, drink, music, dancing and more”:

  • 1920s music and dancing
  • Live entertainment
  • Complimentary dance lessons (but I already do a mean Charleston!)
  • Set-up elaborate picnics
  • Vintage shopping
  • Mansion tours
  • Lawn games
  • Antique automobiles
  • Much more!

Proceeds will support Glen Foerd’s mission to preserve the estate for the community and future generations.

You can pack your own picnic lunch, purchase snacks and beverages on-site, or pre-order from Jamie Hollander when you order your event tickets (and they look pretty tasty). Vintage-inspired cocktails will be available throughout the event featuring Art in the Age and Hendrick’s Gin spirits.

All ages are welcome, kids 12 and under are FREE! No outside spirits allowed on premises; guests must be 21 and older to drink.

Got a pie recipe to die for? Enter the Jazz Age on the Delaware pie baking contest: categories will include fruit and sweet pies, savory pies, boozy pies and most original pies. Drop off your pie by 1pm at the porch of the mansion to be judged by the region’s top bakers, chefs and food journalists.  All Jazz Age guests can watch the judging at 1:30pm.

Tickets are available online for $45, day of is $55.

I very highly suggest checking out JazzAgeDel on Pinterest for fashion eye candy, cocktail ideas and tips on where to shop local for ’20s inspired gear!
