Regretting your decision not to procure a ticket now that the pope has landed? Yeah, I sort of am too.
You don’t need to miss out on all things pope! Franklin Square (adjacent to Independence Mall at 6th and Race) will have a jumbotron broadcasting live all Papal events on Saturday, September 26th and Sunday, September 27th. The live feed broadcast on the jumbotron will be the same live feed (not through a television network) that all viewers on Independence Mall or the Benjamin Franklin Parkway will see.
Franklin Square is outside the security zone for the ticketed events on Independence Mall and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The public is invited to come to Franklin Square and view all of the Papal events for free. Blankets and lawn chairs welcome!
Franklin Square will open at 9 AM on both Saturday and Sunday, and close at 8 pm, or whenever programming concludes.
Amenities in Franklin Square:
- public restrooms (yay!)
- Stephen Starr burger stand SquareBurger
- gift shop selling official Pope merchandise
- plus the regular Franklin Square attractions— two playgrounds, the Parx Liberty Carousel, and Philly Mini Golf.
