If you haven’t been to Johnnie’s Dog House on Concord Pike yet, you are missing out.
I am not a hot dog person— I might get one from a cart while in NYC or at a ballgame, more for the experience than anything else— but I love Johnnie’s. In addition to the amazing variety of dog offerings, they have options for vegetarians (veggie hot dogs, burgers, kielbasa, sweet sausage and bratwurst) and incredible onion rings and sweet potato fries (I always order both along with my hot dog).
AND they have shakes and deep fried Oreos.
Thursday July 23rd is National Hot Day for 2015 (I believe the exact date changes year to year) and Johnnie’s Dog House has new items on the menu:
- S’mors Dog: topped with Nutella, Fluffernutter, crushed graham crackers
- Tequila Sunrise: Texas Tommy (hot dog wrapped in bacon, then deep fried; this is my usual order) topped with fried egg and melted cheese
- Destroyer Bowl: two hot dogs and one hamburger are chopped up and placed at the bottom of the bowl. Then a layer of mac & cheese, a layer of bacon, a layer of french fries, then chili, fried onions and hot sauce. OMG.
Have you been to Johnnie’s? What’s your favorite thing on the menu?
