Friday, September 2nd
See the Budweiser Clydesdales: they’ll be parading through West Chester as part of their First Friday festivities. While you’re there, make sure to check out the Vintage Market in the Chestnut Street parking garage.
First Friday Art Loop in Historic New Castle: Walk through town visiting galleries, artisanal displays and unique objets d’art while snacking and sipping wine.
The Inspire Lot: The Souldaires play a free concert in downtown Wilmington. Food trucks, hands-on art activities, and a whole lot of fun!
Rehoboth Beach Bandstand: More free concerts! Significant Others plays tonight, and Jimi Smooth & HitTime play on Saturday.
Saturday, September 3rd
Free museum admissions: Bank of America cardholders can take advantage of the Museums on Us program Saturday and Sunday.
Farm Fun: see the animals, do farm chores, pick your own herbs or veggies, hike the preserve at Coverdale Farm.
Dover 4th of July Take 2: Independence Day got rained out, so Dover is doing up the whole shebang Labor Day weekend. Tour the historic buildings, enjoy live music, learn a new craft and stay for the fireworks (set to music from Broadway’s Hamilton).
Home Depot Kids’ Workshop: kids can make a mini back-to-school whiteboard with pen tray.
Arden Fair: over 120 craft and jewelry vendors, holistic expo, antiques market, book and plant sales, kids’ activities, live music and dancing.
Beers, Rims & Notes at Blue Earl Brewing: car show, food trucks, live music, biergarten, outdoor games, pinup contest, 50/50 raffle for prizes. Proceeds from this event benefit Citizens’ Hose Company No. 1 Inc. of Smyrna, DE.
Star Wars Science Day at the Delaware Children’s Museum: Shake hands, high-five, and pose for pictures with your favorite Star Wars characters, and then blast off into outer space with hands-on programs that explore the science of Star Wars.
Delaware: A Brew Story at the Blue Ball Barn: Local historians present a history of Delaware brewing, followed by a craft beverage sampling with more than fifteen local craft beverage makers. Enjoy gourmet sandwiches from WiLDWiCH Food Truck and meet with local artisans and artists.
Free concert at Trap Pond: The Reminders play their Americana/Blues/Country/Gospel for the last night of this summer concert series.
Teen Jam at World Cafe Live Wilmington: 4 acts to perform, presented by Accent Music Rock School.
Sunday, September 4th
Lots of free museum admissions: check out the Rockwood Museum, Delaware Art Museum, Brandywine River Museum or Barnes Foundation free of charge (donations are always nice, though. Support the arts!) The Philadelphia Museum of Art is pay-what-you-wish.
Indonesian American Dangdut Festival: music, food, art, and traditional dance at Rodney Square.
Blue Hen CrossFit Student Day: UD students can try out a free CrossFit class at HardBat CrossFit.
See The NeverEnding Story: this 80s favorite is playing at Brandywine Regal and Cinemark Christiana at 2 and 7pm.
Live from the Rooftop: get your dance on. DJs will be spinning old school, reggae and R&B hip-hop until 1am on the roof of the Colonial Garage in downtown Wilmington.
Old Brandywine Village Concert: The Special Delivery Band plays a free concert from 4 to 5:30pm on the plaza behind the old Hercules Building.
