Crayola is retiring the crayon color Dandelion, which was arguably the best color for sunflowers (and, I guess, dandelions) and a real bummer. But you can see him and say goodbye this weekend, plus get some free crayons!
Yes, this is real.
If you didn’t get a chance to say farewell to Dandelion when his retirement was announced back in March, you’re in luck – Crayola just extended the beloved Crayola Crayon’s Retirement Tour.
Right in time for the back-to-school season, Crayola is sending Dan D. to 50 Target store locations in 10 U.S. markets throughout the month – including Philly. This weekend on August 19 and 20, Dan D. will visit five Target stores; Plymouth Meeting Target, Montgomeryville Target, Oxford Valley Target, Brandywine Target and Springfield West Target.
Objectively, this seems sort of weird, even if you did have an odd attachment to the color Dandelion which I may or may not have. But then there’s this:
Fans and shoppers will have the chance to say goodbye to Dan. D live in store, snap selfies with him, and take home a free custom 4-pack of Dandelion Crayola crayons, created exclusively for Target.
Talk about burying the lede, right? I am all about this limited edition 4 pack of Dandelion so you can color lots of sunflowers. Or dandelions, whatever, I don’t judge.
You can “meet” the retiring Dandelion, or as it appears he now likes to go by, Dan D, at the Brandywine Target from 9 to 11am on Sunday August 20th.
If you’re on the road or if you want your Philly area friends to score some custom crayon packs/grab you an extra, on Saturday August 19th he’ll be at the Targets in Plymouth Meeting (9 – 11am), Montgomeryville (1 – 3pm) and Oxford Valley (5 – 7pm).
On Sunday, he’ll leave the Brandywine Target, have some lunch and then hang out at the Springfield West Target from 1 – 3pm.
