Review and Giveaway! Strawberry Shortcake: Growing Up Dreams

09/28/2011 by cassidy

growing up dreams

Cassidy’s take:

I got to watch Strawberry Shortcake: Growing Up Dreams. In the first show Strawberry Shortcake tells Custard about once when Gingersnap dreams about becoming an astronaut and going to another planet and meeting new creatures. I want to be maybe a teacher when I grow up, I wouldn’t want to be an astronaut because I don’t want to fall into any black holes!

In the second one Peppermint Patty be’s the boss for a little bit and then learns that she should work together with her friends and to ask nicely.

It is a great movie. The best character is Cupcake the puppy because he is cute.

Mom Note:

I used to love Strawberry Shortcake, and I’m glad to be sharing her with my daughter. I love that they resisted the temptation to age and “fashionify” Strawberry Shortcake and her friends– they’re all just as refreshingly cute and innocent as always.

The “be nice, even when you’re in charge” lesson is a great one for little girls to internalize before they hit the dreaded Mean Girl stage, and of course the message to follow your dreams is always a welcome one. Cass loved the story and it’s nice to have a DVD or two that doesn’t make me cringe!

Strawberry Shortcake and her friends can’t wait to grow up, and they wonder what they’ll become some day. It’s all berry exciting as imaginations soar and Strawberry and her friends see what it’s like to be busy career girls! But when Peppermint Fizz becomes Mayor and gets berry, berry bossy, trouble strikes in Strawberryland. Growing Up Dreams is all about getting along, working together, and believing in your dreams. Plus, no matter how big you get…you should never outgrow being nice!

I always remembered playing Candy Land with my mom and loved it because it was so colorful and all the little characters on it. I wanted to be a police officer from Kindergarten all the way up to high school until I had career day with a police officer. I got to spend the day with him and he talked me out of it by saying they really don’t get paid that much for what they do. The paper work is crazy whenever you pull one person over. You work crazy hours. Pretty crazy huh?

I really enjoy this version of Strawberry shortcake. I even have a crush on Strawberry Shortcake’s voice actor and her friends. I think it would be cool to have a relationship with them. I even got this video off the internet for 8 dollars and I have watched the whole series and I am 24 years old and almost 25.
