The Great American Bake Sale

Sign up to hold a bake sale in your area to help fight childhood hunger!

We’ve done this and it’s a hugely satisfying experience on a lot of levels: knowing that you’ve helped your community, getting to know your extended neighbors, helping your kids to make a real, tangible difference.

All you have to do is sign up here. Share Our Strength offers a tremendous amount of resources and support, from coupons for Domino sugar to sale flyers to  letters to help you ask for donations from local bakeries and stores.

We haven’t nailed down our sale date this year yet, but when we do I’ll update here, as we’ll be holding a “virtual” bake sale at the same time.

If you’re a blogger, consider participating as part of Bloggers Without Borders, by hosting your own bake sale or partnering with one already happening in your area!

3rd Annual National Challenge Weekend:

Share Our Strength has set a goal of having 500 bake sales – at least 10 in every state – in one weekend, April 20th-22nd. The first 300 bake sale hosts to submit $275 or more from bake sales held on National Challenge Weekend will receive a Jay at Play’s Little Miss Muffin Pop N Flip™ toy, as a “thank you” for their efforts.

GIVEAWAY!

Little Miss MuffinJay at Play International’s Little Miss Muffin Is Baking a Difference in the Fight Against Childhood Hunger! Throughout 2012, 1% of Jay at Play’s Little Miss Muffin Pop N Flip™ dolls sold will be donated to Share Our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale (up to $75,000), a national effort to end childhood hunger in America by 2015. Little Miss Muffin arrives to you peeking out of her magical muffin cup. Pop her muffin top, flip the muffin cup inside out, and Little Miss Muffin becomes a soft adorable doll.

Kids love to help in the kitchen, and participating in a bake sale is a great way to teach children about charity while spending time together as a family. MyLittleMissMuffin.com offers a variety of simple recipes for young children, from fingerpainting on poundcake to mixing homemade playdough. More advanced mini chefs might enjoy layering a red, white and blueberry parfait with strawberry and vanilla yogurt sprinkled with fruit on top. Children will have hours of fun playing with Little Miss Muffin and making these sweet treats in the kitchen.

Enter to win your own 9″ Little Miss Muffin doll!
Just follow the instructions in the Rafflecopter widget.
