This year National Donut Day falls on Friday, June 3rd! Here’s where to claim your free donuts to celebrate.
The History of National Donut Day
During World War I, approximately 250 Salvation Army volunteers assisted American soldiers in France. Rations were slim and the volunteers gave out coffee and donuts as a way to promote cheer and serve as reminders of home.
National Donut Day was established by the Salvation Army in 1938 to honor those “Donut Lassies” who served the treats (along with writing supplies, stamps, clothes-mending and home-cooked meals), and to help raise funds during the Great Depression.
The Salvation Army continues to provide meals and services to daily to those who visit Salvation Army programs. On National Donut Day, enjoy a free donut at one of the local companies below— and be inspired to donate time or money to help the Salvation Army carry on their work.

- Get a free donut with purchase of any hot or cold dispensed beverage with your Giant Eagle Advantage Card.

A & R Bakery at the Dutch Country Farmers Market in Middletown will be giving away one free donut with any purchase for National Donut Day, from 8:30am to 12pm.
Milburn Orchards in Elkton is celebrating their Season Grand Re-Opening AND National Donut Day. Receive a free apple cider donut with any Farm Market purchase on June 3rd while supplies last!
Duck Donuts on Main Street in Newark (along with all other Duck Donuts locations) is giving customers a free Sugar Donut on National Donut Day, no purchase necessary. Claim yours via this Facebook offer.
Gooey Donuts in Milton is offering 10% off all call in orders for National Donut Day.
Krispy Kreme is offering a free doughnut of any variety on National Donut Day: one per customer, while supplies last, not valid at drive-thru. Our local Krispy Kreme is at 114 N DuPont Highway (Rt 13) across from the Farmer’s Market, but if you’re traveling this deal is running at all Krispy Kremes nationwide.
You can also treat yoself with a free Krispy Kreme doughnut at Royal Farms with the purchase of any Royal Farms coffee on National Donut Day. This offer is redeemable on the Royal Farms app only.
Dunkin’ Donuts will give you one free donut when you buy a beverage this Friday. They are also sponsoring geofilters for the day on Snapchat!
Cumberland Farms customers score a free doughnut Friday with a purchase of coffee (hot or iced) or a Chill Zone beverage from 5 – 10am at any new concept store.
Local (Carlisle, PA) donut maker Entenmann’s is celebrating their favorite holiday by running a sweepstakes: 10 people will win a year of donuts.
