I missed this the first time around, so I’m excited to have it come around again!
“Adopt” a rubber duck to place in the 2nd Annual Rubber Duck Race to support the Delaware Humane. Then, come to Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park on September 17th to watch 10,000 ducks race down the Christina River. The ducks will be dropped into the water from the Market Street Bridge around 5:45 pm, and will “race” to the finish line at the Walnut Street Bridge.
Each duck is individually numbered. The first ducks that make their way into a specially made catch-tube will be plucked from the water in succession, and the holders of the corresponding numbers will be awarded prizes. The Grand Prize is $2500 cash. Other prizes include a Disney trip, ShopRite gift card, and gift cards to local restaurants. You do not need to be present to win.
Food trucks from The Rolling Revolution (Angelo’s Curbside Cafe, The Plum Pit and Java Puppy) will be selling food and drinks; WJBR will be providing music.
Ducks cost $5 to adopt (less if you buy a bunch); get yours here. Each duck sold helps the DHA provide care for and place more dogs and cats in forever homes, and to provide important services like spay and neuter surgery and vaccination clinics at lowered cost to the community.
