Breakfast in the Sky Returns to the Morey’s Piers Ferris Wheel https://delawaretodo.com/breakfast-sky-returns-moreys-piers-ferris-wheel/ Tue, 05 Apr 2016 18:52:54 +0000 http://delawaretodo.com/?p=6604

The giant Ferris wheel at Morey’s Piers on the Wildwood boardwalk is one of the defining landmarks of my childhood. Every year in August, we went to the beach for a week, and the Giant Wheel (one of the largest Ferris wheels on the east coast) was one of our non-negotiable must-dos. A few years back I took my kids to Wildwood for the first time and we all rode the wheel together and man, it was every bit as scenic/exhilarating/terrifying as I remember.

This summer you, your family, or you and a huge group of your friends can take over the entire Giant Wheel and feast on the Breakfast in the Sky experience.

Breakfast in the Sky invites guests to leisurely soar high above the Wildwoods shoreline aboard the attraction’s 156 foot high Giant Wheel while savoring the cool ocean breeze and a hot breakfast served “wheel-side” complete with white linens and fine china. Hand-crafted by Morey’s Piers Executive Chef Wally Jurusz, this year’s menu includes new items such as huevos rancheros and shrimp, crab and chanterelle crepes, in addition to breakfast favorites like Belgian waffles, spinach and fontina quiche, and steak and eggs.

Yum yum yummy. I freaking love brunch foods.

Now, this sounds perfect for birthdays, engagements, graduations, anniversaries, or just a extra-special morning, but the Breakfast Buyout also features new optional enhancement packages for 2016, including live entertainment and music and Breakfast in the Sky mugs. A mimosa and Bloody Mary beverage package is also available for one hour pre-breakfast service while you await your turn on the Giant Wheel.

Breakfast in the Sky reservations are available on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays from July 23rd through August 22nd for $90 per car with two people; $40 per additional person. Limit of four guests per car (which kinda bites in light of my family of 5); advance reservation is required. Enhancement packages must be booked at least six weeks in advance.

Breakfast Buyout is ALSO available for private booking July 10th through August 22nd from 9 to 11am: I’m thinking this is pretty much the best baby or bridal shower idea ever.  This package includes:

  • exclusive and private use of the Giant Wheel with wheel-side breakfast service with linens and china for each guest.
  • each guest is served bottled water, coffee, hot tea or homemade iced tea; choice of hot entry breakfast dish, choice of cranberry, pomegranate or fresh squeezed orange juice, and assorted breakfast bread basket and condiments.

To book Breakfast Buyout, call 609-729-8644. Advanced reservations are required and subject to availability. The cost is $3,000 for the two-hour package with a maximum of 48 people. Price does not include tax or gratuity.

The Giant Wheel requires guests to be at least 56” tall or accompanied by an adult. No single riders allowed, and an adult must accompany guests under 10 years of age, even if he/she meets the above height requirement. An adult must accompany persons with developmental disabilities. One adult may accompany no more than two children. This experience is not recommended for children under 10 years of age. For add-on beverage package, a valid ID is required for all guests consuming alcohol. Alcohol will not be permitted on the ride and all alcoholic beverages will need to remain in the designated area on the pier.
