What secrets would the spirits share if they could be conjured back to life from the other side? Explore the supernatural side of this question on a special tour entitled, Lives of the Necromancers, a literary look at George Read II, scheduled on Friday, October 13th of course. Necromancers are sorcerers, wizards, or magicians. Two tours available: 6:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. at the National Historic Landmark Read House & Gardens located at 42 The Strand, New Castle, DE 19720.
George Read II had an extensive library covering topics one might expect for a 19th-century gentleman, as well as some that would be surprising, including Lives of the Necromancers by William Godwin, published in 1834. The book features historic and fictional stories of the lives and legends associated with magic. Come experience a Friday the 13th tour inspired by the book, combining light and dark, silence and sound, plus some visual surprises!
