Delaware To Do: Labor Day Weekend Edition

09/02/2016 by Robin Elton

Hermine is coming at us hard, so maybe the beach isn’t the place to be this Labor Day. Luckily there’s plenty to do throughout the state! Here are our top picks for Labor Day weekend in Delaware (and surrounding areas).

Check out our event calendar for even more goings-on in the area!

First Friday Art Loop in Historic New Castle: Walk through town visiting galleries, artisanal displays and unique objets d’art while snacking and sipping wine.

The Inspire Lot: The Souldaires play a free concert in downtown Wilmington. Food trucks, hands-on art activities, and a whole lot of fun!

Rehoboth Beach Bandstand: More free concerts! Significant Others plays tonight, and Jimi Smooth & HitTime play on Saturday.

Farm Fun: see the animals, do farm chores, pick your own herbs or veggies, hike the preserve at Coverdale Farm.

Dover 4th of July Take 2: Independence Day got rained out, so Dover is doing up the whole shebang Labor Day weekend. Tour the historic buildings, enjoy live music, learn a new craft and stay for the fireworks (set to music from Broadway’s Hamilton).

Home Depot Kids’ Workshop: kids can make a mini back-to-school whiteboard with pen tray.

Arden Fair: over 120 craft and jewelry vendors, holistic expo, antiques market, book and plant sales, kids’ activities, live music and dancing.

Beers, Rims & Notes at Blue Earl Brewing: car show, food trucks, live music, biergarten, outdoor games, pinup contest, 50/50 raffle for prizes. Proceeds from this event benefit Citizens’ Hose Company No. 1 Inc. of Smyrna, DE.

Star Wars Science Day at the Delaware Children’s Museum: Shake hands, high-five, and pose for pictures with your favorite Star Wars characters, and then blast off into outer space with hands-on programs that explore the science of Star Wars.

Delaware: A Brew Story at the Blue Ball Barn: Local historians present a history of Delaware brewing, followed by a craft beverage sampling with more than fifteen local craft beverage makers. Enjoy gourmet sandwiches from WiLDWiCH Food Truck and meet with local artisans and artists.

Free concert at Trap Pond: The Reminders play their Americana/Blues/Country/Gospel for the last night of this summer concert series.

Teen Jam at World Cafe Live Wilmington: 4 acts to perform, presented by Accent Music Rock School.
