Jack White’s first solo album is pretty amazing. It’s not White Stripes though- There is definitely a different sound. Still really scratchy garage band rock, and the occasional slow song, but still….a different style. A better one? That’s for you to decide.
The album starts out exciting and sing-able with “Missing Pieces” and “Sixteen Saltines,” then slows down with piano and acoustic, until we get to “I’m Shakin” and gets fun and dance-y again. The album slows down one more time for “I Guess I Should Go To Sleep” and “On and On and On” for a grand finale of “Take Me with You When You Go.”
This is an excellent album, and if you are/were a fan of the White Stripes, you won’t be disappointed by this album.
